5 Young IPL Stars to watch out for in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

This year cricket in India will kick start with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which earlier delayed due to the Covid-19. After conducting a few domestic tournaments like SMAT, BCCI is playing to organize Indian Premier League in India this time. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will commence from January 10 and played by the teams that participate in the Ranji Trophy. The Final of SMAT will be played on January 31. Karnataka is the defending team of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

IPL’s Young Stars to watch out for in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021

Indian Premier League featured in among the most popular franchise-based leagues in the world. Performing in the Indian Premier League can change the life of any cricketer, Brendon McCullum mentioned in an interview that his inning of 158* in 1st match of the match changed his life. Every Team/Franchise will also look at their performance in SMAT. Let’s look at the talented players who are featuring in this T20 tournament.

1. Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Padikkal who won the Emerging Player Award in the Indian Premier League in 2020 and caught the eye of many cricket experts, is all set to play from defending team Karnataka in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. A good season of SMAT would definitely get him closer to selection in Indian Team and would also help in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is another talented batsmen to watch out for in the upcoming domestic T20 Tournament. Though he did not get a good start and out for a duck in his first match. Ruturaj Gaikwad played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 and scored three consecutive fifties. He is a free stroking right-hand batsman and will play from the Mumbai squad in SMAT.

3. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan had a successful last season of the Indian Premier League, not only as a team but, as a batsman also. He was in mind-boggling form in the Indian Premier League 2020. Now, all set to lead the Jharkhand team in SMAT 2021. He will be eyeing a place in the national squad as Rishabh Pant’s repeat failure on the International platform.

4. Priyam Garg 

Priyam also made his debut in IPL last season where he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Priyam Garg who came to bat late in the inning while playing for SRH managed to score only 133 runs. He is also named as captain of the Uttar Pradesh team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was also Captain of the Indian team in the U19 WorldCup.

5. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi the right-arm leg spinner who impressed everyone in the Indian Premier League with his wicket-taking abilities is another youngster to watch out for in the tournament. Ravi had played 14 matches and took 12 wickets at an economy of 7.37 in IPL 2020. He will play for Rajasthan in SMAT. (source)
