Hitman, Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant hundred on Day 1 of the 2nd Test match of the England tour of India. Before the start of the match, Rohit was under pressure after few low-scoring innings recently, However, today Rohit dominant England bowling as he scored 161 runs off 231 balls with the help of 18 fours and 2 sixes.

Rohit Sharma created many records in the 1st inning of 2nd test.

Fastest to Hit 200 sixes at home:

Rohit Sharma has become the fastest batsman to hit 200 sixes at home. He achieved this landmark in 123 innings. He reached the landmark after hitting a tossed-up delivery from Ali over the long-off boundary. Martin Guptill had held this record earlier in 161 innings. Brendon McCullum had played 192 innings to reach this landmark. While Chris Gayle reached in 217 innings.

First Indian to score 7 Hundred at home:

Rohit Sharma hit his 7th hundred today in Chennai in the ongoing England tour of the India 2021 test series. Surprisingly all his 7 Test hundreds have come at home. Now, Rohit became the first Indian to score seven Hundred on home soil. Mohammad Azharuddin had held the earlier record with six hundred at home.

First Indian to hit 200 sixes at home:

Rohit Sharma became the first Indian to hit 200 sixes in international cricket at home. MS Dhoni was on the second with 179 sixes in the home. While Yuvraj Singh on the third position with 111 sixes on home soil.

With his hundred on Saturday, Rohit Sharma became First Player to score Hundreds against four different countries in all three formats. Rohit Sharma hit hundreds in all three formats against West Indies, England, South Africa, and Srilanka.

England tour of India 2021: Summary of the Day One

India won the toss and chose to bat first on the spinning track in the 2nd Test Match. The second test witness couple of changes from both sides. India made three changes while the England team made 4 changes. Axar Patel made his Test debut. For India, Axar, Mohammad Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav come in place of Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, and Shahbaz Nadeem. While For England, Olly Stone, Stuart Board, Ben Foakes, and Moeen Ali come in for James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Jos Butter, and Bess.

India did not start in the first inning of the 2nd test of the England tour of India 2021 test series. they wanted as Shubman Gill got out for a duck. Stone bowl a good length ball to Gill and Gill decided to not offer a shot and the ball thrashed into the pads of Gill. After that Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara added 50+ partnerships. During the morning session of Day one, it was only the Rohit Sharma show. However, England was back in the game after sending India’s big gun like Virat Kohli and Pujara to the pavilion. India was 106 for 3 at Lunch. Rohit Sharma along with Ajinkya Rahane started the rescue process. Both Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma were under process before this Test match had delivered. They added 100+ runs partnership in the second session of Day one. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane ensure that no wicket falls in the post-lunch session.

In the 3rd session of day one of 2nd test match of England tour of India 2021 test series, Rohit Sharma got out on 161 runs before added 162 runs partnership with Rahane. Leach bowled a length delivery to Rohit. Rohit played the sweep shot on the delivery and the ball flies towards the deep square leg and Moeen Ali who was at deep square leg took the catch. Ajinkya Rahane got bowled out while trying to sweep a full bowl of Moeen Ali. Rahane completely misunderstood the line of the ball. Rishabh Pant took India’s total to 300 with a gorgeous pull shot on Stone’s ball. Debutant Axar Patel on 5* and Rishabh Pant on 33* are at the crease. India will try to make as runs as possible.
