The report suggests that Suresh will lead his Uttar Pradesh team in next year Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Last time when Raina leads this team back in the 2015-16 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Last year Uttar Pradesh team won only 2 games out of 6 games. UP team failed to qualified for the next round of the tournament. Let sees, if their fortunate change under Suresh Raina’s captaincy.
Previously the 12th edition of the Syed Mushtaq Trophy was scheduled to start from 19 November to 7 December 2020. But Due to Covid-19, this did not happen. However, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, BCCI will follow strict protocol while in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, “The 38 teams of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be divided into five Elite groups and one Plate group. The Plate group will consist of eight teams each while the elite group will have six teams and counter the challenge of logistics and travel during the ongoing pandemic, BCCI would create six bubbles.
This tournament is the perfect platform for someone like Raina ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League.
