India restricted South Africa to 106 in their 20 overs, thanks to Deepak Chahar and Arshadeep Singh, in the first T20 game of the Ind vs SA T20 series 2022. Arshadeep Singh picked three scalps, while Deepak Chahar took two wickets. Both the Pacer demolished the SA top order by picking five wickets in the powerplay.
India Playing 11 Update
Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out from the first T20 due to back pain. While Yuzvendra Chahal also got rested. Deepak Chahar and R Ashwin came in for their place. Rishabh Pant also makes into playing 11 in the absence of Hardik Pandya who was rested from this series.
Ind vs SA 1st T20 2022: Match Summary So Far
Indian captain Rohit Sharma once again won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first on the green wicket of Thiruvananthapuram. Deepak Chahar proved Rohit’s decision right in the first over of the inning by picking the wicket of South Africa captain Temba Bavuma.
In the next over, Arshdeep joins the party and picked three wickets in his first over. He first clean bowled the South African opener Quinton de Kock. On the fifth ball of his first over, he removed Rilee Rossouw on a golden duck and then David Miller. In the next over, Chahal gave another blow to South Africa by picking the wicket of Tristan Stubbs on 0. South Africa was reeling at 9 for 5 when the fifth wicket fell.
Aiden Markram played some good shots before got out on 25 runs. Harshal Patel picked the wicket of Markram. Wayne Parnell and Keshav Maharaj tried to build a partnership. But, Axar Patel had another plan. Parnell holed to the boundary while trying to play a big shot. He scored 24 runs.
Maharaj played some good shots in death over and took Africa’s total over 100. Harshal removed him in the last over when he was batting on 41. SA managed to score 106 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to their lower order.
