Mohammed Siraj has pulled off an incredible feat as India’s newest star joins the elite list of bowlers who have taken five or more wickets at Gabba. The unexpected arrival of Mohammed Siraj from net bowler at the start of the series to the leader of the Indian bowling attack has been nothing short of marvelous. He has taken the highest wicket for India in this series.
When Siraj went for practice after his feather’s death, Ravi Shastri told him that, “You’ll end up with a five-wicket haul in this Test series. Your father’s dua (blessing) is with you”.
When Australia was nine down, both Siraj and Shardul Thakur had taken four-wicket each. Soon after, Shardul Thakur took the catch of Josh Hazlewood on Siraj’s bowling and Siraj got his fifth wicket.

Australia openers start the day with positive intent especially David Warner. Both added 89 runs for the first wicket. Shardul Thakur got the first breakthrough for India. Harris tried to evade the short ball bowled by Thakur and couldn’t keep his gloves away as the ball kisses the glove. Pant took the simple catch. In the next over Warner was trapped in front of the bowling of Washington Sundar. He scored 48 runs. Mohammed Siraj strikes twice in the same over. He first removed Marnus Labuschagne and then, Matthew Wade on a duck. Marnus collected a thick edge to a shortish ball and the ball flew towards slip. Wade got out while trying to flick a ball off his pads.

At that stage, Australia lost four wickets for 34 runs in the morning session of Day four. After that Steve Smith and Green build the partnership and took the lead over 200 runs. Steve Smith got out after hitting another half-century. Mohammed Siraj got the prized scalp of Steve Smith. Smith got out on a nasty delivery from Siraj that hit near a crack in the pitch and shot up towards Smith’s shoulders. His back foot defense gloved the ball to Pant. Soon, Green also dismissed in this fashion. Australia’s lower order looked for quick runs.
