India vs England Test Series 2021: What Buttler feels about Virat Kohli??
Jos Buttler who was part of England’s squad that tours Sri Lanka before arriving in India and in quarantine addresses a press conference from his hotel room. Jos Buttler feels that one of the biggest challenges for England is to keep Virat Kohli’s bat quiet in the upcoming series.
He said during the virtual conference that “Virat Kohli would be coming back in cricket field after, had some time away from Test matches and Kohli will be hungry to play well and lead India in this series, so it is going to be a great challenge for us”
Virat Kohli who played the first Test match in Adelaide against Australia and missed the remaining three test matches as he was on paternity leave, is set to return on February 5. When England tour India in 2016, Virat scored 655 runs in that series. However, Buttler also stated that Joe Root has nice memories of the England tour of India in 2012. England had won that series in 2012.
Jos Buttler names England’s X factor against India
During the virtual conference, Jos Buttler also said that Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer will be the x-factor for England in the upcoming Test series. Both Stokes and Archer were not part of England’s squad against Srilanka and completed their quarantine period of six days. Buttler also hopes that their senior bowlers James Anderson and Broad can unsettle the Indian batting line-up.
Buttler has played 6 Test matches and scored 154 runs with an average of 38.50. His highest score in India is 76 in Mumbai.
India vs England Test Series 2021: ECB planning Jonny Bairstow’s comeback
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is adopting a rotational policy due to which Bairstow would not be available for the first two test matches against India. However, England’s assistant batting coach Graham Thorpe had said that Bairstow will be available from the 2nd Test. Now, ECB stated that the plan is still for Bairstow along with Sam Curran and Mark Wood to return for the third and fourth test and not the second test match.
Meanwhile, ECB has faced a lot of criticism for not including Johnny Bairstow in the squad for the first two test matches against India. However, Jos Buttler backed ECB’s rotation policy and said that it is very challenging to be locked up in the hotels, being in quarantine, and have stayed away from your family. England Cricket Board had a forward-thinking in rotating players for this series”
