The rivalry is rather one-sided when it comes to ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Indian team and Pakistan have faced on five occasions in World Cup T20. India has won all of them. They first met during the group stage match in the inaugural edition of ICC World Cup T20 where we witnessed a tie game. Later, the match was won by the Indian team through bowl-out.

In the same competition, both faced each other in the final of ICC World Cup T20 2007. India won the toss and batted first in the Final. India posted a competitive total of 157 runs on the scoreboard thanks to Gautam Gambhir’s 75 runs off 54 and a quickfire 30 runs off 16 balls by Rohit Sharma. In reply, Pakistan scored 152 runs. India won the match by 5 runs. Gautam was selected as the man of the match.

After that, they did not meet in the next two ICC T20 World Cups. They faced each other in a super eight match in World Cup T20 2012. This time, Pakistan elected to bat first after winning the toss at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Pakistan got bowled out on 128 runs courtesy of Lakshmipathy Balaji’s three wickets. India chased down the target comfortably thanks to Virat Kohli’s 78 runs. India won the match by 8 wickets.

In ICC T20 World Cup 2014, India won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. India restricted Pakistan to a score of 130 runs thanks to tight bowling by Indian bowlers especially Amit Mishra who took three wickets for 22. India won the match by 7 wickets and maintain their 100% winning record against Pakistan.

In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, both these sides faced each other in Super 10. The year changed, but the story remains the same. India once again won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first on Eden Garden’s wicket. Indian bowlers once again restricted Pakistan’s batting line up to a score of 118 runs in 18 overs.
