IPL 2023 Auction Can Happen On This Day

An eagerly-anticipated franchise-based T20 league, IPL’s next season will get underway on March- April 2023. But, before that, IPL 2023 Auction is going to take place on December 16, 2022, as per reports. The venue for the IPL auction has not been decided. The auction date is fixed in an informal conversation between IPL Franchises and BCCI, as per reports.

IPL 2023 will be the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. Currently, Punjab Kings have the maximum amount remaining in their purse while going to the IPL auction, while Lucknow Super Giants have the least.

IPL 2023 Auction Will be a Mini-Auction

IPL Auction 2023 is going to be a mini-auction. This could be the second occasion where the IPL auction takes place in a year twice. The first instance happened in 2018 where in February 2018, an IPL auction was conducted for IPL 2018, and in December 2018, another IPL auction was conducted for IPL 2019.

There will be few releases before the mini-auction and few players will be brought in comparison with IPL 2022 mega auction. All the IPL franchises might reveal the list of released and retained players by November, 30. Few trade requests are happening before the auction as per reports, like,

  • Many Franchise has approached Gujarat Titans for Rahul Tewatia and R Sai Kishore.
  • Chennai Super Kings have been approached for Ravindra Jadeja.

All IPL Franchise Have a Purse of Rs.95 Crore, While Going Into IPL Auction 2023

The purse of all IPL franchises has been increased by Rs.5 crore for IPL 2023 Auction. Previously, all franchises have a purse of Rs.90 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.

IPL 2023 Will Be Played in the Same Old Format

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the IPL 2023 will be played in the same home and away format. That means each IPL team will play 14 games at their home ground and 14 games at an away ground. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also confirmed that the Women’s IPL will also take place next year in February.
