The defending champion, Australia will kick start their World Cup T20 2022 campaign against New Zealand on October, 22, as per the T20 World Cup 2022 Schedule. This game is a rematch of the ICC World Cup T20 2021 Final. Coming to the tournament, Australia is all set to host the eighth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup which was originally scheduled to happen in 2020 but was canceled due to Covid-19.
This time a total of sixteen teams will take part, eight teams are prequalified for the Super 12s, and eight teams will compete in the qualifying round. Four teams from the first round will qualify for the Super 12s. A total of 45 matches will be played in this T20 carnival that is going to take place between October, 16 and November, 13. Australia’s performance in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
Australia emerge victorious once in the World Cup T20 and that came in the last edition of the ICC T20 event in 2021. They have reached the final in 2010. Apart from these two instances, they also qualified for the semi-finals in 2007 and 2012. Overall, Australia has appeared in 36 T20 games in ICC Global T20 Tournament and won 22 games.
T20 World Cup 2022 Schedule- Australia
Australia will take on New Zealand in their first game at Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, October, 22, from 12:30 pm IST. Australia campaign head to Perth for their second game against the Round 1 qualifier on October, 25. On October, 28, a high voltage game between Australia and England will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Stadium.
Australia then met Round 1 Qualifier on Monday, October, 31 at the Gabba, starting at 01:30 pm IST. Australia finish their Super 12 stage game with the match against Afghanistan on November, 4 at Adelaide Oval. The semi-final will be played on November 9 and 10. MCG will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final on November, 13, starting at 01:30 pm IST.
