Andre Russell who is known for his power-hitting in short format has gone berserk once again in the Caribbean Premier League(CPL). The Kolkata Knight Riders’ explosive batsman Andre smashed the fastest fifty in the history of CPL. Russell achieves this feat in the third match of the Caribbean Premier League between Saint Lucia Kings and Jamaica Tallawahs.

Russell came out to bat in the 18th over. He did not waste any time as he starts smacking bowlers all over the park. He smashed the last ball of the inning to reach his fifty in just 14 balls. His splendid inning was filled with 6 sixes and 3 fours. Previously, the record for the fastest fifty in the CPL was held by JP Duminy. He took 15 balls to reach fifty.

Saint Lucia Kings Faf Du Plessis won the toss and invited Rovman Powell’s team to bat first. Jamaica Tallawahs were off to a great start as they added 81 runs in the powerplay. Jamaica’s opener Kennar Lewis falls on the last ball of the powerplay. A handy cameo of 48 runs off 21 gave Jamaica the perfect start. Rostan Chase took the wicket of Kennar Lewis. After the wicket of Lewis, Walton shifted the gear and scored at a good strike rate. Rostan Chase again gave his side a much-needed breakthrough in the form of Walton. Walton scored 47 runs.
The fall of both openers did not bother other Jamaica’s batsmen as they scored runs at a healthy strike rate. Wahab Riaz struck thrice in the 18th over as he removed Haider Ali, Rovman Powell, and Carlos Brathwaite. Haider Ali and Rovman Powell scored 45 runs and 38 runs respectively. Saint Lucia Kings felt that after taking these three wickets, they would be able to make a comeback in the match, but they did not know that after this there is going to be a bigger problem with the arrival of Andre Russell. With Andre’s show, Saint Lucia posted a huge total of 255 runs in their 20 overs.
Saint Lucia Kings did not get the ideal start as they lost six wickets inside the powerplay, thanks to Migael Pretorius who took three wickets. Royal Challengers Bangalore newly recruited Tim David hung around and smashed an impressive fifty. He scored 56 runs off 28 balls.
